Parent Workshops
Our popular workshop helps parents understand how their child learns to read and presents fun, literacy-based activities that families can do at home. At the end of each workshop, families receive a copy of the book reviewed during class so they can implement the strategies at home.
Children's Literacy Program
KRC holds literacy classes for children ages 5 to 9. Students participate in brainstorming sessions, storytime, classroom discussions, hands-on activities, and games that build strong reading skills. During the program, each child receives a new book to take home.
Children’s Library
KRC partners with community-based organizations to build a children’s library for the community. We provide books on a wide range of topics as well as children’s literature, resource books, and periodicals. KRC’s libraries are a welcoming and comfortable place for children to read.
Book Drives
We organize book drives to collect new and gently used books for children in low-income neighborhoods. Many children in these areas have no books at home. KRC counts, cleans, and sorts all of the books to ensure that they are appropriate for redistribution. Throughout the year, we donate the books to various community organizations, schools, and shelters.
